CHAMBER MUSIC

A passionate chamber musician, Herresthal is active with her own ensemble Hehku, as well as with duo partners Fredrik Bock and Erik Skanke Høsøien. She also collaborates frequently with The Baroque Society.

Hehku Ensemble

In 2021, Herresthal and conductor Aliisa Neige Barrière founded Hehku - a Nordic Ensemble and Artist´s collective comissioning contemporary pieces and championing silenced voices from the historical repertoire.The name Hehku derives from Finnish and means "glow", "gleaming" and "aflame", which mirrors the purpose of the ensemble; creating musical experiences colored by spark, light and vitality. 

Duo Bock/Herresthal

Herresthal forms a duo with Swedish lutenist and baroque guitarist Fredrik Bock, performing programs combining baroque repertoire, Nordic folk music and contemporary works.​

The Baroque Society

Herresthal collaborates with The Baroque Society in their Sans Frayeur (without fear) program, celebrating prominent female characters from the baroque era. Touring in 2024/2025 with music by Helene-Louise Demars, Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Francoise-Charlotte Menetou, Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville, Jean-Philippe Rameau +

Herresthal is also a part of The Baroque Society´s "Grand Opening" in The Copenhagen Music House, September 25th 2024, singing music by Camilla de Rossi, G. F. Händel and Jean-Philippe Rameau ++ 

Duo Høsøien/Herresthal

Christina Herresthal and Erik Skanke Høsøien met through Orkester Nord, where Herresthal has been visiting soloist on several occasions. From this grew a collaboration, which resulted in an Italian program presenting music by Barbara Strozzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonia Bembo and Francesco Cavalli.
